2006 has been a big year for DKA and we hope next year will be even bigger. To that end, we are beginning our annual fundraising campaign. All donations received from now until 2007 will be counted as part of the 2007 campaign and go towards DKA's operating budget.

Giving is easy – just click on the PayPal donation button.

Remember all DKA staff are volunteers so your money goes straight to paying for the quality fiction and poetry you've come to expect from DKA.

We hope to raise enough money to not only keep DKA running the way it is now, but to make two big improvements:

1. We'd like to raise pay rates for short fiction from $10 to $25. When we raised pay rates back in January (from $5 to $10 for short stories, and from $1 to $5 for poetry) we noticed a dramatic increase in the number and quality of submissions we received. We hope raising the rates will bring even more great work our way and help us compete with other, higher-paying markets.

2. We'd also like to begin producing a print edition of each month's issue. This represents an additional cost of approximately $1500 total for the year. In addition to being an added option for our readers, a print edition would be further incentive for authors and poets to submit their work to DKA. Getting published online is great, but there is nothing like having your work published in a print magazine, something you can set out of the coffee table for everyone to admire.

As we did this year, we plan to have both a fiction contest and a poetry contest in 2007. This year's fiction contest brought DKA over twenty stories. There were so many great stories that in addition to publishing the four winning stories we published several other "non-winning" entries. Our current poetry contest is shaping up to be just as successful.

Our total need for 2007 is $4000. This is a significant part of Double-Edged Publishing's budget for next year, so it is very important for DKA's fans to show their support.

Donations may be given to Double-Edged Publishing without designation, or may be designated for any one of the four magazines.

Overall, for 2007 DEP hopes to raise enough money to continue the operation of our four existing magazines and explore the possible addition of two others. One of the possible new magazines is very exciting--a "For teens, by teens" publication that would be operated by teens and targeted to teens. It would publish content intended to appeal to young readers, with the goal of entertaining them and helping them find their way safely into adulthood. The other magazine would most likely be a genre publication, possibly featuring romance and mystery.

All donations received between now and the end of 2006 will be counted as part of the 2007 campaign, so giving is as easy as clicking on the PayPal donation button. (Top of forums, side of contents.)

Alternatively, checks may be mailed to:
Double-Edged Publishing, Inc.
9618 Misty Brook Cove
Cordova, Tennessee 38016

DEP can also receive donations of stock or other securities. Many people can benefit from tax advantages of donating stock and securities (consult with your tax adviser), so DEP is happy to accommodate such donations. DEP holds an account with Morgan Keegan, and transfer information is available; call Bill Snodgrass at 901-213-3768. If you prefer, you can contact our broker at Morgan Keegan. Call Wiley Maiden or his assistant Garland Davis at 901-766-7739 or tollfree at 800-873-6897.

Double-Edged Publishing, Inc. is incorporated in the state of Tennessee and is chartered as a NONPROFIT corporation. It has US Internal Revenue status as a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. Contributions to Double-Edged Publishing, Inc. are deductible under section 170 of the IRS Code.

Please consider making a donation to support DKA. We appreciate all donations – big, small, or anything in between. Even if you can't give money, you can help by spreading the word about DKA and maybe even getting other people to donate. Post about us on your blogs and websites, link to this announcement. Tell your friends about your favorites stories and poems at DKA. Every little bit helps.

Thank you for your support this year. We're looking forward to more great things in 2007.

Hey, folks, just a quick word...

All total, DEP has 43 volunteers contributing to keeping the magazines running. DKA is blessed with a great team and, as you know, the quality of the publication reflects their dedication and talent.

What you may not know is that a significant amount of the money running DKA came out of their pockets. Not only are they putting time into this regularly, they are kicking in cash.

Last February, we ran a mini-campaign that raised about $1000. This campaign needs to reflect that commitment, but it needs to include many more people. With PayPal, you can make donations fast, securely, and with little effort. If everyone who reads this made a donation of some kind, I am confident that a big part of the 2007 need would be met.

Please, I urge you, consider what you can do to help DKA reach the goals its team has set. If you just can't contribute money, consider sharing your fondness for DKA with your friends who can.

As has been said, every bit helps!

Yes, they do. They take a transaction fee of something like 30cents plus a percent. I'ld have to go look up the rates, as they varry. (They also PAY interest on the balance kept in the account.)

Yes a check would not take the hit.

Need more incentive to donate?

How about donor premiums? That's right, if you give money to support DKA, I'll send you a little thank you gift.

Give any amount and get a DKA magnet for your fridge.

Give $50 or more and get a DKA tile coaster.

Give $100 or more and I'll send you your very own DKA T-shirt. (Mine is black, which I think looks cool with the logo, but you can have your choice.)

All merchandise is from the DKA Store if you want to take a look.

Just donate, then email me your name, address, and amount of donation. If you're donating $100 or more, also send me your shirt size and the style of T-shirt you want. (The DKA store has several styles available.)

Help keep quality scifi and fantasy free for everyone. Please support DKA in any way you can.

Thanks.

Our 2007 Campaign is coming to a close.

Please consider making a donation to DKA to help pay for another year of quality fiction and poetry.

Paypal or check. Small donation or large. Either way, we really appreciate your support.

Thanks.
